Beyond the Hot Flash: What We Learned From Our First Perimenopause Panel

10/22/2026

We opened our first-ever practitioner panel with a simple icebreaker: What won’t you miss about your period?

The answers came fast. Crime scene periods. Flu-like symptoms. Planning vacations around a cycle. Guessing how long a menstrual cup could last. The cramps, the supplies, the emotional PMS rollercoaster.

The Zoom room laughed, exhaled, and settled in. And just like that, the conversation became exactly what we’d hoped it would be: honest, grounded, and long overdue.

On July 20th, 1440 Health Collective hosted Beyond the Hot Flash: A Practitioner Panel on Perimenopause & Menopause — a free virtual event bringing together four of our own practitioners to talk about perimenopause and menopause from their individual healing philosophies. No one-size-fits-all answers. No supplements to sell. Just four knowledgeable, caring practitioners giving the full picture.

Here’s what we covered and what stayed with us long after we logged off.

The Practitioners & Their Perspectives

Our panel was moderated by Rachel Brumberger, acupuncturist and Chinese medicine practitioner, who held the conversation with warmth, humor, and the kind of grounded wisdom that made everyone feel immediately at ease.

The panelists each brought a distinct lens:

Jessica Luke — Spiritual Counseling & Depth Hypnosis — explored the emotional and spiritual dimensions of this transition or initiation, including the way perimenopause can surface deeper psychological patterns that have been quietly running in the background for decades.

Heidi Palian — Holistic Wellness & Nutritional Therapy — spoke to the physical foundations of hormonal health, with particular attention to mineral depletion and how something as simple as remineralizing the body can shift the experience of this transition significantly.

Dr. Jillian Casey — Naturopathic & Functional Medicine — brought the science, walking attendees through what’s actually happening hormonally and what natural pathways exist for supporting the body through it.

Jess Macpherson — Energy Healing & Emotion Code — offered a perspective of how unresolved emotional patterns held in the body’s energy field can amplify the experience of perimenopause, and how clearing that field can bring unexpected relief.

The Moment that Stopped the Room

Early in the panel, the conversation turned to something one of our attendees later described as “the angle I really needed to hear” — the idea that biography affects biology.

Our history lives in our bodies. The stress we’ve carried, the emotions we’ve suppressed, the nervous system patterns we’ve developed over a lifetime and how all of it shapes how we move through hormonal transition. Perimenopause doesn’t happen in isolation from the life that preceded it. For many women, it’s the moment the body finally insists on being heard.

This thread ran through nearly every panelist’s response and became the quiet through-line of the whole evening.

The Questions You Asked

We opened the floor for Q&A and two questions in particular sparked some of the richest conversation of the night.

“I can’t take HRT because of a breast cancer history. What options do I have for navigating perimenopause without it?”

This question matters deeply and it’s one far too many women are left to navigate without adequate support. Our practitioners spoke to it from their own areas of expertise. Dr. Jillian Casey addressed naturopathic and functional medicine approaches, including adaptogenic herbs, targeted nutritional support, and the importance of working with a provider who understands the nuances of hormone-sensitive histories. Heidi Palian spoke to mineral foundations and nervous system support. Rachel touched on acupuncture’s documented role in reducing hot flashes, improving sleep, and supporting mood regulation without hormonal intervention. And Jessica spoke to the emotional weight of being told a common solution is off the table and the importance of having support for that grief, too.

The message was consistent across all four: there are meaningful, well-supported pathways through perimenopause that don’t involve HRT, and you deserve a care team that knows them.

“We hear so much about the physical symptoms but what about the emotional and identity shifts? It seems like menopause doesn’t create patterns like people-pleasing, perfectionism, and emotional burnout so much as reveal them. How do you support women through that deeper transition?”

This question was one of the most insightful things an audience has ever asked us. And the room felt it.

The short answer: you’re right. Perimenopause has a way of making lifelong patterns harder to compensate for. The coping strategies that worked for decades — the overachieving, the people-pleasing, the holding it all together — start to cost more than they return. For some women, this is also the moment when previously unrecognized ADHD or autism becomes impossible to ignore.

This is exactly where the multi-practitioner model of 1440 becomes so important. The physiological and the psychological are not separate conversations. Jess Macpherson spoke to how energetic patterns held in the body often reflect these deeper identity structures. Jessica spoke to the role of depth hypnosis and spiritual counseling in supporting women through what can genuinely feel like an identity unraveling — and an identity becoming. The invitation of this transition, when met with the right support, is not just survival. It’s integration.

What Attendees Said

We’ll let this speak for itself. At the close of the panel, one attendee — herself a practitioner — wrote in the chat:

“Not only am I curious about individual sessions with each of you, I will most definitely be referring my own clients to 1440 Health Collective for additional support and collaboration.”

Another noted: “Fascinating to hear all the different viewpoints that yet all came around full circle.”

That full-circle quality — four distinct practices, four different entry points, one coherent picture of care — is exactly what 1440 was built to offer.

What’s Next

This conversation was just the beginning.

On Monday, November 16th from 7:00–8:30pm, we’re hosting our next panel: Beyond the Overwhelm: Nervous System Tools for Holiday Stress — a follow-up evening focused on stress, burnout, and practical tools for navigating the holidays with your nervous system intact.

If the perimenopause conversation resonated, this one will too. Spots are limited and it’s a low-cost event open to the community.
