Marcie has been a physical therapist, always in the field of Outpatient Orthopedics with an emphasis in Orthopedic Manual Therapy since 1999. Marcie founded Pure Symmetry, LLC in 2020 with the aim of determining the root of the dysfunction and providing the patient with the tools to self-manage.

After spending every Saturday/Sunday morning of her high school years volunteering in the physical therapy department she fell in love with the profession. The ability to make positive difference in someone’s life provided such gratification.

Marcie credits her education, desire for continual learning, mentors in the field, and clinical experience the background knowledge in conjunction with her manual skills to effectively evaluate, diagnose, and treat the physical dysfunction to restore alignment, encourage movement and return the patient an active pain-free lifestyle.

Marcie has obtained her Orthopedic Manual Therapy Certification, COMT, thru Maitland Australian Physiotherapy, she obtained her Functional Dry Needling Specialist Certification, completing the coursework thru Kinetacore, and is a certified Pilates Instructor thru The Professional Health and Fitness Institute, also studying under Chrissy Romano-Ruby.  Marcie is working toward certification in two additional comprehensive manual therapy philosophies including The Integrative Systems Model under Dianne Lee, and Visceral Manipulation under the Barral Institute.

During her free time, Marcie enjoys reading, Pilates, a great Peloton® class, and together with her husband, watching their two children play sports.

Amy Kossoff

Mind Body Pain Management and Integrative Medicine

Amy Kossoff, MD, is an Internist who has been practicing medicine for almost 40 years. After 35 years working with the underserved in DC, she became convinced that the traditional medical route alone was not serving her patients.  Her patients were suffering from problems that pills did not cure – like chronic pain, anxiety and depression. She embarked on a journey exploring other ways of healing, which led her to Mind-Body Medicine.

Amy became involved with the Center for Mind-Body Medicine in DC, becoming a certified Mind-Body practitioner. She also studied with Dr. Howard Schubiner, through an organization called Freedom from Pain. Currently her practice is limited to helping those with neural circuit disorders, in which the brain creates pain and other noxious disorders, to recover function and decrease disability.

In her free time, Amy likes to spend time with friends and family, walk her dogs in the woods and curl up with a good book.

Patients can be seen individually and can also participate in Mind-Body Skills Groups with a focus on chronic pain. Get in touch and talk to Amy about ways in which she can help, and schedule a 15 minute consultation at no cost to determine if this type of treatment is right for you.
